Real Life 'Jungle Book' Girl Found Living in the Jungle With Monkeys
via People.com
In Lucknow, India, a young girl was discovered by local authorities to be living in the jungle with monkeys. This seems like a section from the publication, The Jungle Book.
When she was discovered, she was naked and surrounded by a group of monkeys. When they tried to approach her, she began to screech and the monkeys surrounded her as if to protect her.
Once they were finally able to reach the young girl, they took her to a local hospital where she has been receiving medical treatment for quite some time now.
She was said to have been malnourished and it appeared she had been living with these monkeys for quite some time.
Her behavior was very erratic and she would run around on her arms and legs instead of walking. She was also unable to understand human language. When she ate, she would throw her food on the ground and proceed to eat it with her mouth, never once using her hands.
"Based on her behavioral patterns, it's possible that she could have lived with the monkeys since she was an infant," Bahraich police officer Dinesh Tripathi told The New Indian Express in an interview.
Since her discovery, police have been trying to confirm the young girl's identity, determine who her parents were, and discover just how she ended up in the forest with monkeys.
"She is still not able to speak, but understands whatever you tell her and even smiles," D.K. Singh, chief medical superintendent stated.
Our hopes and prayers are that this sweet, young girl will be able to easily adjust to her new way of life and that she finds a wonderful home where she can live a long, happy life.
