Owner Considered "Defective" Puppy as Trash and Wanted to Throw Her Out. Once Jennifer Caught Wind of the Situation, She Knew She HAD to Act Quickly
Willow is an incredibly adorable purebred Neapolitan Mastiff. A few weeks after she was born, her owner noticed something about her that he didn't like, wanting to immediately get rid of her.
Little Willow was born was a congenital condition called Swimmer's Syndrome. This means that she was unable to stand or walk at the normal time her siblings could. Instead, her chest was flat and her legs were splayed out like a turtle "swimming".
Her owner considered her a loss and wanted to get rid of the "defective" puppy as soon as possible, even contemplating throwing her out like trash. Most breeders who have puppies born like this often have them euthanized or just abandon them altogether.
By chance and before he had taken any drastic measures, he posted something on social media about Willow. Somehow, word got around to Jennifer Williams, President of 2nd Chances Rescue in Norco, California. As soon as she found out, she got straight in her car and drove to the breeder's home.
There, she found five adorable, rambunctious Neapolitan Mastiff puppies running around and playing. Across the way, she noticed one lonely little pup, floundering around on the ground, unable to run around and play with her siblings.
This was a truly heartbreaking sight, knowing how difficult like was for Willow. She had such a severe case of Swimmer's Syndrome that she was virtually unable to eat or drink. Jennifer took Willow home with her and instantly took her to an Animal Acuscope Therapist named Gina Gould.
Within two days of sessions with Gina, Willow was able to take her first steps! Months after, she was able to run. By using a combination of binding her chest, tying her legs in the correct position, acuscope therapy and swimming, Willow made a COMPLETE recovery!
Now, eight months later, you would have never know that Willow was born different than any other dog. She is rambunctious, playful, and can function just like any other dog.

Even though Willow was different than the others, that doesn't make her any less special or less loved. I'm so thankful that Willow now has a home where she's treated like the queen of the yard and she's living the fullest and happiest life possible!
